Post 6 – Pre-Trial

This is the time after Jason’s arrest and before his trial. His first attorney seemed competent to probe the truth. He met with Jason for a short period of time but he definitely got it. There is no doubt in our minds that if he would have had the case, it would have been won. Attorney #1 seemed to work hard and even found the forensic accountant that Jason needed. Then came the replacement due to a conflict of interest. The second attorney talked like he knew what he was doing but by the end, not so much. He led everyone (even the judge and prosecutor) to believe there was some communication with the forensic accountant. He even texted Jason about the non-existent accountant. The trial is when Jason found out the accountant did not exist. The fact was he had never spoken to one. Jason sent him a list of witnesses and only one was ever even contacted! The attorney stated he could not get a hold of him or he felt as if Mr. Kramer did not want to help. With that said Jason had no problem getting ahold of Steve Kramer and Mr. Kramer even sent a letter stating he was never contacted. Believe what you will but Jason’s second attorney spoke to not a single witness, not even Kristie. Even more shocking is that he showed up to trial with just a few pages to put into evidence and none of them were the financial records that proved Jason’s innocence (see full 26b (Post Conviction Relief) here). The trial judge and Appeals Court somehow found him competent. Corrupt? Maybe. Insane to any reasonable human? Absolutely.
