Statement by Harold Jason Craig at Sentencing.
Your Honor, I moved to Perrysburg, Ohio to be near my mom and grandma for 20 years. I volunteered at that community city center for 10 years before I even became part of the board. I volunteered at the school system. I donated to the elementary schools, and helped create programs way before I was part of the community center. All I have done my whole entire life was help children. That’s all I’ve ever done. I raised two great children. I took children from that neighborhood under my wing. And to listen to Mr. Anderson trash my character, knowing how that community center is. Factually, it’s amazing. He sits there and discusses how I stole $238,000 when in the same breath he says they admit they were hurting. Our budget was $70,000 a year. We weren’t hurting when we asked for the $30,000. Mr. Kinder, I just think, with all due respect, just didn’t understand how eBay worked. I love the community center. I was raising money for them last October. I would like to thank the community center for sticking behind me in this. I thank Mr. Belazis for his statement that the community center has never ever had the amount of money the prosecution has accused me of stealing. I appreciate Mr. Kramer. I don’t know why — my attorney and I have discussed this — Mr. Kramer has been very helpful to myself and my family. I don’t know why there’s this — I don’t know if I have given the two wrong numbers or what. We’ll have to hopefully figure that out. I do appreciate the support from the community center. I appreciate the fact that they have never, at no time ever accused me of stealing any funds from them. And I just hope that you, the court, realize that sometimes the prosecution just gets it wrong. I love my family. I love my community. I love the community center. And I thank you for letting me talk.
